Nearly 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, so your celebration moves from vows to cocktails to dinner to a nightcap without ever leaving the property.

The Courtyard and Patio

A grass aisle beneath the gazebo, framed by brick and a classic pergola. Outdoor ceremonies welcome up to 100 guests, weather permitting. The site fee includes white ceremony chairs, setup, a water station, and an additional half hour of time.

Cocktail hour moves onto the patio as the light softens, with fire pits on the terrace and lawn games across the grounds for guests who arrive early.

The Great Hall

Arched paned-glass French doors, brass chandeliers, and warm wood floors. The room is classic enough to need very little, which is its quiet advantage. It also serves as your indoor setting should the weather turn, at no additional charge.

A handsome wood bar beneath arched windows and a chandelier. Ideally sized for a welcome reception on Friday, a get-ready lunch on Saturday, or an intimate after-party once the evening winds down.

Dinner and dancing beneath chandeliers, with arched windows along one wall and original millwork throughout. The room is tasteful enough to need little adornment, and generous enough to hold a full dance floor. Paired with the Great Hall for larger celebrations.

A plated or buffet dinner, dancing, a late night station if you wish, then the bar in the Exeter Room.

Chef de Cuisine Katie Harwood joins Epoch from the White Barn Inn and Cliff House Maine, working alongside Banquet Chef David Barney, whose decades of experience are devoted to evenings exactly like yours.

Together they craft menus inspired by seasonal New England ingredients, locally sourced from nearby farms and fisheries. An elegant plated dinner, an abundant country table, interactive culinary stations, or late night favorites. Every wedding menu is written for that wedding alone, and prepared by the same kitchen that cooks dinner service each evening.

Room for the Whole Weekend

 

We have enough rooms to hold nearly your whole guest list, not just the wedding party. That is unusual for an inn this size, and it is the difference between a celebration that ends when the shuttles arrive and one that carries on in the bar. Rooms and suites range from classic kings to family suites, and we hold private blocks well in advance.

The couple enjoys a complimentary suite on the wedding night, with a spacious sitting area, a king bed, and a deep soaking tub for two.

And no one is marooned on an estate. Step out the front door and you are in a working New England downtown, with the river, the bookshops, and the cafes a few blocks away. The Inn sits beside the lawns of Phillips Exeter Academy, with the New Hampshire Seacoast and Portsmouth a short drive beyond.
